Because selecting a part of a picture could be extremely time consuming, Photoshop gives you the ability to undo changes made with your selection. When you make changes to the picture, Photoshop tracks your history. The same goes for selections. To undo a change in the selection, or any change in the picture for that matter, just go Edit -> Undo.
